British mid-century glass butter churn with the scarce red “Blow” hand-crank head, embossed “British Regd 836612.” Square-shouldered jar moulded “Made In England” and “4 Imperial Quarts,” fitted with the original tin screw ring and a working crank driving timber paddles. A handsome piece of kitchenalia that still turns smoothly and displays brilliantly on a farmhouse shelf or in a dairy collection.
Honest age to the surfaces: flaking and wear to the red enamel on the head, light oxidation to the metalwork, minor marks and light clouding to the glass, and handling wear to the paddles—exactly the right kind of patina. Circa 1940s–50s.
Size: 34 cm tall (approx. 13.4"), footprint roughly the size of a standard 4-quart square jar.
