A lovely engraved and brass surahi from South India or Sri Lanka and dating from the first half of the 20th century. Densely engraved with Hindu deities, animals and foliate design. There are a couple of dings that you can see in the photos but the surahi still looks great. There is a hole near the base that suggests the surahi was converted to a lamp at some point.
