A striking vintage desk model appearing to represent an Avro Lancaster, the four-engine British heavy bomber used by RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War.
The aircraft is formed from cast metal, probably aluminium, with four individually fitted propellers, twin tail fins and simplified cockpit and turret detailing. It is displayed in a climbing position on a curved metal support, mounted above a reflective metal plate and warm-toned wooden plinth.
The handmade construction and substantial materials give it the character of a mid-20th-century workshop, presentation or commemorative model rather than a modern commercial miniature. An excellent display piece for a desk, office, study or aviation collection.
Presented in good vintage condition with expected surface wear, oxidation, small marks and slight bending to some of the finer components. The model is secured to the base with bolts accessible from beneath.
