Handsome vintage brass ship’s navigation light, originally a starboard lantern with a deep green ribbed glass lens and heavy brass casing, now sensitively converted for interior use. The cylindrical body has a great industrial feel with layered solder repairs and working hardware, topped with a hinged carrying handle so it still looks every inch like it just came off a working vessel. Inside is the original reflector and lamp mount, now fitted with modern wiring so it functions safely as a characterful table or floor lamp.

This piece is in good working order with a modern cable and plug; ideal as a statement bedside lamp, hallway accent or moody bar light. Currently wired with a UK plug and supplied with an adapter for US buyers so it’s ready to plug in and use straight away. Takes standard bulbs It shows the expected signs of life from years at sea – surface marks, small dings, soldered repairs to the casing and age to the brass finish – all part of the honest, salty patina that collectors look for.
