The carved wooden grille is backed with its period woven speaker cloth, giving the front a strong interwar decorative quality with elements of Art Deco and Chinoiserie design.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe open reverse reveals the original large loudspeaker unit and wiring, together with a small three-terminal connection panel. Speakers of this type were designed for connection to early wireless and valve radio sets, at a time when manufacturers treated radio equipment as decorative furniture as much as electrical equipment.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNo maker's name is visible. The speaker has not been electrically tested and is therefore sold as a vintage decorative\/collectable item rather than guaranteed for modern use.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eGood vintage condition with general scratches, rubbing, marks and age-related wear to the wooden cabinet.
