Handsome late-19th century stationery cabinet in figured mahogany, the sloped front opening in two halves to reveal five graduated, scalloped letter racks with a long pen tray to the front and pocketed panel doors. Classic brass carry handle and catch to the lower frieze, with the original fitted interior surviving nicely. A superb desk companion for mail, bills and notebooks, equally good as a charging station or hallway organiser for keys and post.
Condition is honest and decorative: surface marks, old ink specks and age toning throughout, wear to the leading edges, no key for the lock, the left door shows the original pin-and-ribbon memo board with the ribboning perished, and the right door retains its little picture/motto frame with age to the paper. Solid, clean and ready to use.
