Handsome late 19th/early 20th-century book-form games compendium: a pair of faux “leather-bound” volumes with red chequerboard panels to the exteriors and marbled “page” edges. Open it to reveal a full backgammon board with storage wells holding thirty turned counters (fifteen red, fifteen cream), two spot dice, a doubling cube and a textured dice cup. It’s the perfect old-money/library-core accent that also plays beautifully.
Condition is sound and decorative with honest wear throughout. The exterior shows scuffs, scrapes and small losses to the chequerboard varnish and edges, and wear to the simulated spines; the papered interior has rubbing to the points and some age toning. Hinges are intact and the set closes and carries as it should. Clean and ready to enjoy.
Size: 50 x 45 cm open (closed approx. 50 x 22.5 cm).
