A serene shin-hanga landscape by Takahashi Shōtei (also known as Hiroaki), showing a lone figure in a striped kimono approaching a torii gate beside iris and pines. The composition’s cool greys and watery blues create a calm, misty atmosphere that sits beautifully in Japandi and “old money” interiors. The print carries Shōtei’s oval artist seal with the stacked characters for Hiroaki at the lower right, with the vertical signature cartouche above. It is presented in an older black frame with textured fabric mount; an Edinburgh framer’s label for Alex. Drysdale remains on the reverse. Overall framed size is 31 x 43.5 cm and it is ready to hang. Publisher marks are likely beneath the mount (typical of Watanabe-issued Shōtei designs).

Condition is decorative and timeworn: rippling and creases throughout the sheet, light toning and small edge nicks, and expected scuffs to the period frame—see photos. Despite the age-wear it displays with quiet, poetic presence.
