Large and wonderfully bold original oil painting depicting a dense arrangement of sunflowers in a dark vase.

Painted with particularly heavy, expressive impasto, with thickly applied areas of yellow, green, red, blue and black giving the flowers and foliage a strongly textured, almost sculptural surface. The dark background makes the vivid yellow blooms stand out particularly well and gives the painting a striking modernist character.

An original oil on canvas, probably dating from around the mid 20th century. Signed indistinctly within the lower part of the painting, although I have been unable to identify the artist. Perhaps A.Lowe. Presented in its substantial period wooden frame with layered gilt and reddish-brown moulding.

A very decorative large-scale painting with plenty of presence, particularly suited to an eclectic, maximalist or mid-century interior.

Good vintage condition with general age-related wear. There are some surface marks and minor irregularities to the heavily textured paint, together with scratches and wear to the frame. Theres a bit of paint flaked off that ive highlighted in the 8th photo.
