A handsome late Victorian/Edwardian wall barometer in a carved mahogany case with turned finials and a domed thermometer stage above a circular “wheel” barometer. The bilingual thermometer reads in Réaumur and Celsius, and the cream barometer dial is printed in Danish—Storm, Regn, Foranderligt, Smukt, Meget Smukt—placing it to Scandinavia, most likely Denmark. The exposed coiled movement at the dial’s centre indicates an aneroid mechanism.

The case shows a rich, warm colour with fluted detailing around the bezel and an ebonised pointer boss. Glass is present to both thermometer and barometer. Age-related scuffs, tiny knocks and a few light marks are evident here and there, nothing that detracts from its display. As with all antique scientific instruments, it is sold as found and untested for accuracy; a routine service/calibration may be beneficial if precision use is intended.

A good decorative example that reads beautifully on a wall of books or in a hallway.
