A richly woven French wall hanging by Maison Robert Four, Paris/Aubusson, depicting the classic medieval stag hunt on a millefleurs ground. Hounds wheel around a stag beneath a canopy of wildflowers, all enclosed by leafy borders that read beautifully across a room. The original cloth label to the reverse confirms the piece as a faithful reproduction after a sixteenth-century model, executed in wool and linen by the Robert Four workshops (41 rue de Richelieu, Paris; manufacture at Aubusson), with hand-written workshop numbers on the selvedge.
This example is ready to install: a stitched sleeve runs along the top and the tapestry is already mounted on a fitted wooden bar, shown in the photo, so it can be hung immediately on two simple wall hooks or small brackets. Colour remains vibrant with deep greens and a midnight ground, the surface showing light, honest age from hanging and a few small pulls at the edges. Clean, supple and display-ready; in-situ photos give a good sense of scale.
