It was exhibited at the Tyne Tees Northern Open Exhibition, an important touring open exhibition for contemporary artists in the North of England during the 1980s. Contemporary records show the Northern Open touring to venues including Sunderland, Carlisle, Ashington, Scarborough and Harrogate.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe label also records an original exhibition price of £265 plus 30%, adding particularly nice provenance to the work.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eInterestingly, the reverse of the canvas is extensively painted with a vibrant abstract composition, suggesting that Jardine reused an earlier painted canvas when creating “Spare Room”.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePresented in its simple narrow wooden frame. Good vintage condition with general surface wear, marks and minor imperfections consistent with age.
