A striking and unusual pair of mid-20th century crackle-glazed ceramic vases featuring vivid cobalt blue depictions of robed monks. Each vase is hand-painted in an expressive and almost abstracted style, with deliberately worn areas that accentuate the sense of age and mystery. The warm ivory tone of the crackle glaze contrasts beautifully with the saturated blue scenes.

These are likely decorative pieces made in the early to mid 20th century in a style that borrows from both Chinese export and Arts & Crafts influences. The bases show aged red clay with remnants of blackened kiln residue.

Each vase stands approximately 10" tall (26 cm). Both have a rich crazed patina and some glaze pops and firing marks, all part of their rustic charm.

A rare and sculptural duo — perfect for those drawn to the spiritual, the textural, and the timeworn.
