A lovely pair of Japanese export Satsuma style vases, likely from the Taisho period (approx. 1912–1926). Hand-painted in high detail with images of Mount Fuji and a nobel man and a women in traditional dress, with raised gold enameling (moriage).
Base stamped "FOREIGN", this mark was used circa 1893–1923 to comply with export regulations (especially into Europe).
Would style beautifully with dark wood, tansu chests, or minimalist mid-century rooms as accent pieces.
