A good quality drilbu hand-held bell from Tibet. Made in two parts using the lost wax method. The bell itself is decorated with the 16 vajras, 8 faces of glory and 8 godesses. The handle is in the form of Yidam (wisdom face) with the vajra crown (embodiment of the 5 buddhas). The bronze has developed a lovely rich patina. Dating from the first half of the last century.

The bell (drilbu) is held in the left hand and symbolizes emptiness, wisdom, and the female aspect. The sound and the shape of the hollow bell signifies emptiness, or the true nature of all things. By understanding and accepting the “empty”/true nature of all things, we become free of attachment and are therefore liberated from suffering.
