A graceful Meiji-era bijin-ga woodblock by Migita Toshihide, depicting a young woman at leisure in a rose kimono patterned with chrysanthemums, her layered garments mixing geometric and floral motifs. The work is signed 年英画 with Toshihide’s red seal at lower left and titled 美人十二ヶ月 in the upper cartouche. Housed behind glass in an older black frame, overall 33 x 22.5 cm, ready to hang. Quiet, lyrical and beautifully suited to Japandi, wabi-sabi and “old money” interiors.
Condition is decorative and timeworn: gentle toning and scattered foxing to the sheet with a tidemark low in the margin; frame with chips and scuffs; backboard rough as shown. Displays with calm, poetic presence.
