An excellent bronze mask from the Bamun peoples of Cameroon, collected and brought back to the UK in the 1930's or 40's but may be significantly older. Normally Bamun masks are made of wood, with the bronze masks being quite a rarity. This mask would have been made using the loss wax technique, where the object being cast is first made from wax and then the wax replaced with moulting bronze.
