A charismatic three-masted sailing ship model presented in its original glazed display case, richly detailed with hand-tied standing and running rigging, rolled sails aloft, anchors with chain, ship’s boats and painted deck figures at work. The hull is plank-on-frame with a white topside and red below the waterline, flying the Red Ensign at the stern; the whole scene has the romance of an early 20th-century sailor’s diorama and reads beautifully on a console, sideboard or library shelf.
The timber case shows age marks, scratches and small knocks to the frame, light waviness and scratches to the old glass, and there are the usual strings-out-of-true, dust and minor losses to fine rigging expected of a vintage model; nothing that spoils the display—if anything it adds to the authenticity. Case width 80 cm (31.5"); other dimensions as shown in photos.
