A richly decorated vintage Japanese Satsuma-style ceramic vase, featuring an exquisite cobalt blue glaze and intricate moriage (raised enamel) detailing in gold, white, red, and green. The detailed panels depict aristocratic figures in a landscape with pagodas, trees, and mountains. Traditional floral and scroll motifs adorn the neck and base, adding depth and texture.
This piece is signed to the base in red script. Dating early to mid-20th century, made in the Kutani or Satsuma tradition for the export market.
Condition:
The vase has a significant chip and crack to the rim (see photos), but displays beautifully from the front. Craquelure consistent with age.
