Rich, moody tribal rug with a near-black / inky indigo ground and two large linked diamond medallions in reds, soft teal, lilac and salmon. Hand-knotted wool pile, warm underfoot, with classic stepped medallions, arrow/amulet motifs in the field and multiple geometric guard borders. The palette is great: dark ground so it reads dramatic and “library”, but with enough colour in the centres to keep it from feeling heavy.
Measured on the floor it’s approx. 210 cm x 161 cm (about 6’10" x 5’3"), so a really nice “proper room” size rather than just a runner. Condition: good, honest vintage use. Pile is thick and soft, no big bald patches, but expect light wear, slightly mis-shapen and doesn't sit completely flat, a couple of small uneven areas to the edges and minor age-related marks — exactly what you want if you like rugs that don’t look new.
Perfect in a sitting room, under a coffee table, or in a bedroom to give that old-travel / old-money flat feel.
