Authentic Royal Navy task light built up from period marine fittings, with a weighty patinated brass base, slim column and an adjustable original Bakelite shade. The base carries a neat plaque reading “H.M.S. APOLLO 1944–62,” referring to the Abdiel-class fast minelayer commissioned in 1944; she served with the Home Fleet and British Pacific Fleet, saw wartime service before post-war reserve and later recommissioning, and was finally paid off in 1962.

The lamp has been professionally rewired with braided flex, so it’s ready for everyday use. Condition is sound and characterful: the Bakelite shade shows a couple of old cracks that have been neatly repaired and are stable, with light age marks to the metalwork and lovely sea-worn patina throughout. A compact slice of naval history that looks superb on a partners desk or campaign chest.
