A handsome early 20th-century brass vehicle side lamp by Rotax Motor Co, London E.C., with its domed chimney top, four glazed panels and hinged door revealing the internal reflector and burner seat. The oval maker’s plate reads “ROTAX MOTOR CO – ENGLISH MADE,” with patent numbers to the back, placing it firmly in the motoring boom years c.1905–1915.
The lamp shows the right kind of road-worn character: shallow dings, solder traces at the door seam, speckling and scratches to the panes, age darkening inside the chimney, and general surface scuffs; the burner assembly and some fittings are incomplete, so it’s offered as a collector’s/display piece rather than for use. Superb automobilia for a shelf, bar, or industrial/steampunk interior, and a great styling prop with genuine Edwardian presence.
