The detail in this miniature tea house is incredible and must have been made by a skilled craftsman. Each piece is carved from bamboo and is pegged into place. The rice paper shutter doors slide and addition solid shutters are stored in the exterior swinging compartments. The roof is easily removed to reveal the inside which is furnished with a bamboo scroll and flower vase. Outside is the bathroom with sliding doors for privacy. Made circa 1930 in Japan. The Mokoshi is in great condition but does seem to be missing 1 or 2 small pieces. This is a very rare and exceptional piece of Japanese art that looks great displayed on a shelve.
