A large and intricately carved figure of a recumbent water buffalo with a boy sitting on top of it. Made from a dense tropical hardwood, the detail is amazing, the figure and the buffalo both having glass eyes and bone teeth. The end of one of the horns is broken off and there is a split in the wood but these defects detract from the overall appearance.

Dating from the early 20th century

27cm / 10.5" long
