A striking original early 20th-century gramophone / phonograph horn, dating to around 1905–1915, with a large flared black japanned metal body and curved brass neck fitting.
The horn is formed from multiple ribbed panels, giving it the dramatic sweeping shape associated with early external-horn gramophones. Remnants of the original circular trade-mark decal survive to the front, together with a worn patent label around the neck. The surviving labels and construction are consistent with an original period piece rather than a later reproduction.
A particularly good decorative object in its own right, with a strong sculptural, almost architectural silhouette. Ideal for a gramophone restoration or simply displayed as an unusual piece of early sound-recording history.
Measures approximately 62 cm / 24.4 in tall.
Good antique condition with plenty of age-related wear, surface marks, rubbing and losses to the original black finish and labels. The brass neck has developed an attractive aged patina. Please see photographs for condition.
