A charming small Japanese koro in warm polished brass, raised on three hoofed legs with looped side handles and a ventilated domed lid topped by a stylised animal finial. The belly is hand-engraved with scrolling lotus and foliage; inside shows the lovely soot and resin traces of past use. It displays beautifully and brings a subtle wabi-sabi note to Japandi and eclectic interiors alike.
Condition is good and honest with small knocks, surface scratches, age-darkening to the interior and a little verdigris at crevices, all consistent with age.
Height is approximately 4½" (about 11.5 cm); width across the handles about 4¼" (11 cm).
