This small but powerful vintage figure depicts Ganesha, the beloved remover of obstacles, seated in a relaxed pose with four arms and beautifully detailed jewellery and headdress. Cast in bronze (or similar copper alloy) with a hollow underside, it has a rich, dark patina from age and handling that really brings out the modelling in the trunk, hands and textiles.
Height is approximately 10.5 cm (about 4⅛ inches). Condition is good and stable with expected surface wear, minor casting irregularities and age-related marks, all of which add to its character. A great size for an altar, desk or bookshelf – equally at home in a lived-in boho interior as in a more traditional collection of Asian art. Likely early to mid–late 20th century and made in India.
