A handsome late Victorian or Edwardian oak smoker’s cabinet with brass shield mounts, pipe rack, and a revolving interior base. The cabinet opens to reveal its original wooden lidded tobacco jar, sitting on a rotating base flanked by curved slots for pipe storage. The upper compartment lifts to reveal further storage, likely for matches or accessories, and retains its original black metal hinge mechanism.
Made in quarter-sawn oak with decorative brass escutcheons and hinges, this piece was made to be both functional and elegant, blending craftsmanship with practicality. A beautiful object in its own right, it now makes a characterful piece of decor and a fine gift for a collector.
There is a clever mechanism that locks the rotating mechanism until the top is lifted and a button is pressed to unlock the top.
In very good antique condition with age-appropriate wear and patina to the brasswork.
32 cm high x 34.5 cm wide x 19 cm deep (12.5" x 13.5" x 7.5")
