Charming East Asian painting in ink and colour on silk showing two attendants raising a lantern or banner on a terrace before a garden screen. The work is signed vertically at upper right and bears a red artist’s seal. The painting is glazed in a period wooden frame with a slatted timber back, which has a lovely old surface. Dating early to mid 20th century.

Condition is good for age: toning to the silk, scattered small marks and specks, a couple of light ripples and handling creases; the frame has minor scuffs and age wear but presents well and hangs securely.

Overall size 31 × 26 cm; the visible image is roughly 22 × 17 cm.
