A striking vintage sculpture of a reclining panther, believed to be cast bronze and mounted on a substantial rectangular white marble plinth. The animal is depicted in a relaxed yet alert pose, with one foreleg hanging over the edge and its long tail curling dramatically down the side of the base.

The smooth, stylised modelling and dark green-brown patina give the sculpture a strong Art Deco animalier character. Particularly attractive details include the carefully modelled paws, muscular shoulders and expressive face.

Probably dating from the later 20th century. No signature or foundry mark is immediately apparent. Presented in very good vintage condition, with light surface wear and minor marks consistent with age.
