A charming antique wooden stereoscope viewer sold with a small group of original stereoview cards, including architectural and travel subjects with Roman scenes visible among the lot. The viewer has a warm bentwood hood with brass pins and a simple painted stand, giving it plenty of period character as both a collectible optical piece and a strong decorative object.

The cards have that lovely faded sepia tone and include printed descriptive text to the reverse on at least one example, which adds to the historical appeal. This is the sort of piece that works especially well in a dark academia interior, a library, study, or cabinet of curiosities display, and it also makes a very appealing Grand Tour style decorative set.

Condition is in keeping with age, with expected wear, surface marks, fading and handling wear to the cards, along with age-related wear to the viewer itself. Nothing visible looks out of place for an antique set of this type, and the overall presentation is very attractive and atmospheric.
