A handsome antique Victorian carved oak aneroid barometer dating from the late 19th century. Featuring a richly carved circular oak case with a deep gadrooned border, this decorative wall piece retains its original printed dial with traditional weather indicators including Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair and Very Dry, centred around an ornate compass rose.
Although no longer in working order, it remains an exceptionally attractive example with a wonderful aged patina and plenty of period character. The mellow oak case and original dial make it an ideal decorative piece for a study, library, country house, pub, or eclectic interior.
The face displays age-related wear and foxing, adding to its authentic antique appearance, while the oak case has developed a beautiful rich colour over more than a century. It retains its original hanging chain and is ready to display.
A striking piece of Victorian scientific décor with timeless decorative appeal.
Measures approximately 25cm (9.8") in diameter.
