A brilliantly dramatic majolica-style lobster wall plate in high relief, with a bright red lobster at the centre surrounded by mussels, shells, and seaweed against a textured sand ground. Throws lovely shadows on the wall and has that over-the-top late Victorian / Belle Époque seafood platter energy.
The glaze palette runs mottled deep green, olive, mustard, cream, and oxblood red, very classic for French and English majolica oyster and seafood wares of the late 19th / early 20th century.
