Beautiful antique South Asian brass cooking pot with gently flared sides and a rolled rim, lined with its original tin. This type of low, wide vessel was traditionally used for cooking over coals and has that unmistakable old-world, subcontinental kitchen feel. The brass has mellowed to a soft golden tone with a subtle hand-worked surface, making it perfect now as a low planter, fruit bowl or sculptural centrepiece for a dresser or coffee table in cottagecore, wabi-sabi or old money interiors.
The pot measures approximately 24cm in diameter and 13cm high (about 9.5" x 5"). It has a pleasing weight and simple, honest form that pairs well with other vintage copper and brass pieces.
Condition is good and solid with age-related surface marks, scuffs, light dings and areas of tarnish and patina to both the brass exterior and tinned interior, all shown in the photos and consistent with an older South Asian household vessel.
