A beautiful early 20th century English scent or perfume bottle by C C May & Sons, dating to 1912.
The bottle is made from rich ruby-red glass, cut into broad geometric facets which catch the light beautifully and give it a jewel-like appearance. The compact rectangular form would originally have been intended as a personal scent bottle or travelling perfume bottle.

The neck and domed hinged cap are sterling silver and bear English hallmarks for Birmingham 1912, together with the maker's mark for C C May & Sons, a firm particularly associated with silver-mounted dressing table and vanity wares.

It retains its small original-style ground glass stopper beneath the silver cover, which is a particularly nice survival.
The bottle measures approximately 8.5 cm / 3.35 inches tall.

There is age-related surface wear to both the glass and silver, including scratches, small marks and minor edge wear. The silver cap is present but is currently detached from the hinge, as shown in the photographs. Please study all photographs carefully as these form part of the description.

A very attractive little Edwardian / early George V dressing-table piece, combining genuine English sterling silver with unusually rich ruby glass.
