A handsome antique Regency period rosewood tea caddy dating to the early 19th century, beautifully veneered in richly figured rosewood and finished with delicate boxwood stringing throughout. The clean, understated proportions and fine craftsmanship are characteristic of quality English cabinet making of the period.
The interior retains its original twin tea compartments with central mixing section, designed for storing separate varieties of loose leaf tea. The lid is lined in its original faded red paper, adding to its authentic character. The escutcheon remains in place, although the original key is no longer present.
Presented in good antique condition with age-related wear, light surface marks and patina commensurate with over 200 years of use. A very attractive decorative piece as well as a practical collector's box.
