This beautiful antique paper mache opera doll was made in the Chaozhou region during the Qing Dynasty around 1880. The doll is finely painted and traditionally dressed in a silk costume with embroidery and glass buttons. These dolls were popular souvenirs of the Peking Opera and were created to mimic the performers.
The doll measures 27cm in height and comes with a modern stand for display. In generally good condition apart from it looks like a piece of the hair from the dolls head may have broken off.
