An impressive early 20th-century oak roll-top desk, likely dating from around the 1910s–1930s. The curved tambour front rolls upward to reveal a generous writing surface, while the twin pedestals provide substantial storage.

The desk is constructed in oak with attractive grain, panelled sides, dovetailed drawers, integrated wooden handles and a decorative brass lock plate. There are eight pedestal drawers together with a central frieze drawer, with some of the drawers retaining useful internal divisions.

The original fitted pigeonhole arrangement inside the roll top has been removed at some point, leaving an open and practical workspace. Evidence of the former fittings remains visible on the back panel. The desk has a wonderfully characterful, lightly weathered finish with marks, scratches, fading, uneven colouring and signs of old use throughout. The tambour functions but is quite stiff.

A handsome and highly functional period desk, ideal for a home office, studio or atmospheric shop interior.
