A handsome late 19th / early 20th century three-bottle tantalus, constructed in mahogany with silver-plated metal fittings, locking bar and carrying handle. The fitted stand holds three matching square cut-glass decanters, each with a large faceted ball stopper.
The locking mechanism can still be opened and closed correctly, although the original key is no longer present. All three decanters have chips to the rims around the neck openings, as shown in the photographs. There is also general age-related wear and tarnishing to the silver-plated fittings, giving the piece an attractive period appearance.
A particularly decorative piece of antique barware, ideal for a drinks cabinet, home bar or traditional interior. Dating approximately c.1890–1910.
