Experience the rich cultural heritage of Java, Indonesia with this authentic antique Keris/Kris. This piece is a testament to the skill of traditional artisans, with its well-preserved blade and intricately carved wooden sheath. The handle, crafted from high-quality hardwood, features a magnificent carving, while the silver ring securing the hilt to the blade is adorned with ornate designs, despite some slight damage. The blade showcases years of intricate etching, the result of being acid washed, and is believed to date back to the 19th century, though the blade may be older as handles and sheaths were sometimes replaced. This stunning artifact is a true treasure for any collector of Southeast Asian art and culture.

Keris's are considered magical objects and the blades are often blended with sacred ingredients and powerful hyang (spirits) are often invoked into the blade during the manufacturing process. Often it would take a maker years to make a single blade as the work could only be done on certain days after a period of meditation.

An empowered Keris is believed to be capable of bringing good luck or bad luck to its owner. To test whether a particular blade is a good match for its owner, it is advised to sleep with the Keris under your pillow and if you have good dreams, then that is a good omen.
