A richly patinated cast bronze bowl, Japanese Meiji period or early 20th century. The scalloped form is divided into panels chased with cranes, chrysanthemum and landscape vignettes, with a peacock pair worked in relief at the centre. The bowl sits on small nub feet and shows lovely hammer marks and toolwork throughout, giving it that honest, wabi-sabi character that suits both maximalist shelves and calm Japandi rooms.
Condition is good, decorative and sturdy with age-appropriate surface wear, oxidation and scattered marks, all consistent with an antique hand-made piece.
Size: 30 cm diameter (11.8").
