Atmospheric bottle-form Japanese earthenware vase with a coiled dragon in high relief winding around the neck. The glaze graduates from teal to deep peacock blue with lovely pooling and speckling— typical of Meiji period Awaji / studio wares. The applied dragon is crisply modelled with defined scales and whiskers, giving great movement and shadow. Unglazed footrim with buff body and a thick glassy glaze overlap at the base. Presents beautifully on a mantle or cabinet and throws colour in all lights.
Condition is very good, a few tiny glaze nibbles and firing marks, no structural cracks or repairs.
