An attractive early C.1800 tea caddy of sarcophagus form, veneered in richly figured rosewood and raised on four small turned bun feet.
The caddy has an elegant stepped and canted lid, fine contrasting stringing around the edges and a small brass escutcheon to the front. Decorative brass ring handles are fitted to either side.
The hinged lid opens to reveal two separate tea compartments with pale interiors and a similarly lined underside to the lid. A particularly handsome decorative box with beautiful variation in the figured timber.
The caddy is in good antique condition with expected age-related wear, small marks and minor imperfections. The interior has been professionally restored. The original key is not present. Please study the photographs carefully for condition.
