A handsome antique mahogany open bookcase dating from the late Victorian or Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910. The piece has an unusual architectural form with gently curved sides, moulded edges and a raised gallery running across the top.
The open front provides three generous display levels, with two fixed shelves above a deeper lower section. A full-width drawer sits beneath, retaining its attractive original-looking decorative metal handles. The panelled timber back and warm reddish-brown mahogany give the piece plenty of character, while the shallow depth makes it particularly practical where space is limited.
