A very attractive antique Edwardian smoker’s cabinet dating from around 1900, with a glazed front door opening to reveal a fitted interior with three drawers and an upper tier designed for storing and displaying smoking accessories. Cabinets of this type were made to hold pipes, tobacco jars, matches and related requisites, with comparable fitted examples generally dating to the Edwardian period.
Particularly nice detailing throughout, including the three decorative brass drop handles, shaped apron, moulded base and warm reddish-brown hardwood construction. The raised upper shelf has shaped circular areas that would originally have accommodated tobacco jars or similar accessories. The glass-fronted design makes it a very decorative little cabinet even when repurposed for displaying jewellery, curios, watches or other small collections.
Good antique condition with the expected surface marks, knocks and wear from age and use. The glass is intact and the drawers run as intended.
