A striking early 20th-century German porcelain lion figure by E. & A. Müller, modelled in a powerful prowling pose with its head lowered, mouth open and one front paw extended.
The figure is finished in glossy white glaze, with finely modelled detail throughout the mane, face, paws and muscular body. Subtle hand-painted details to the eyes, nose and mouth give the lion a particularly expressive appearance.
The underside bears the green E. & A. Müller factory mark, together with a small painted decorator’s or production mark. A substantial and impressive antique porcelain animal figure, ideal for display on a mantelpiece, cabinet or library shelf.
Very good condition.
Measures approximately 32 cm long, or 12 5/8 inches.
