A striking antique Dutch wall-mounted barometer and thermometer housed within an elaborately hand-carved oak case decorated with oak leaves and acorns. The richly carved Black Forest-inspired frame gives the piece tremendous visual presence, while the combination of barometer and thermometer reflects its original practical purpose as a household weather station.

The circular aneroid barometer remains in working order and features Dutch weather indications including "Storm", "Regen", "Veranderlijk", and "Mooi Weer", while the upper thermometer is housed within a matching carved surround. The dark patinated oak has developed a beautiful depth of colour over many decades and displays the craftsmanship typical of late 19th to early 20th century Dutch decorative carving.

An excellent decorative piece for traditional interiors, country houses, libraries, studies, pubs, and collector displays. The dramatic carved silhouette and functional weather instruments make it equally attractive as wall art and scientific antique.
