A charming antique dentist's cabinet or dental instrument chest, crafted in mahogany with a fitted interior and five graduated drawers. Originally designed for the organised storage of dental instruments, tools, and materials, pieces of this type were commonly found in Victorian and Edwardian dental surgeries and medical practices.
The cabinet retains its attractive original configuration, including the fitted upper compartment with circular holders for bottles or jars and a series of shallow drawers ideal for organising instruments, specimens, jewellery, watches, curiosities, or other small collectibles. The warm mahogany timber has developed a rich patina through years of use, giving the piece considerable character and authenticity.
Today these cabinets are highly sought after by collectors of medical antiques, apothecary furniture, scientific instruments, and curiosity-based interiors. The compact size makes it particularly useful as a desktop collector's cabinet while remaining a highly decorative display piece.
Condition is good antique condition with age-related wear, marks, surface scratches, and patination consistent with age and use. Please note that the bottom drawer pull appears to be a later replacement, as photographed. The lock is present but no key accompanies the cabinet.
Measures approximately 11.6 x 10.2 x 8.5 inches (29.5 x 26 x 21.5 cm).
