A very handsome antique coromandel Gothic Revival box, richly mounted with pierced brass strapwork, studded detail and a dark cabochon set to the lid. The coromandel itself is the real star here, with its dramatic deep-toned figuring, while the warm brass mounts add a strong architectural, almost ecclesiastical feel. It is a beautiful decorative object in its own right, but also a very usable piece for jewellery, letters, keepsakes or small desk items. Inside, the box is fitted with four compartments and lined in an old blue finish, which gives a striking contrast against the dark coromandel and adds to its cabinet-of-curiosities appeal. It works especially well in dark academia, old money and more layered collected interiors, where smaller antique objects often bring more atmosphere than larger statement pieces.

Condition is good antique overall with honest age-related wear throughout. The brass mounts have mellowed with time and show light tarnish and rubbing, while the coromandel exterior has small marks and surface wear consistent with age and use. Inside, there is visible wear, staining and ageing to the blue lining and compartment dividers, all shown in the photographs. These signs of age suit the piece well and add to its character.
