A beautiful antique Chinese oil lamp base, thoughtfully converted into a working table lamp. This striking piece features hand-painted botanical decoration with vibrant foliage in green, yellow, and burgundy tones, and rests on a turned black lacquered wood base. Originally designed to hold lamp oil, the body still contains its removable metal reservoir and retains a gilt interior — characteristic of late Qing or early Republic-era oil lamps.
The piece has been sensitively rewired with twisted brown vintage-style flex and a brass bayonet fitting, making it both functional and full of character. Some age-related wear and surface marks as shown, but overall in lovely condition for display and use.
Height: 14" (35.5 cm)
Condition: Rewired and PAT-tested. Minor wear to paint and base consistent with age. The bulb holder will fit a standard lamp shade which is easily installed.
Origin: China, late 19th to early 20th century
A charming and atmospheric lamp — ideal for adding antique flair to any eclectic or global-inspired interior.
